Attachment v/s Detachment

I have been on a quest to “really understand” the difference between attachment and detachment. I have read several literatures on this subject, but was not able to comprehend it in entirety. I recently heard a discourse where this was beautifully explained; & I am attempting to re-articulate the same below based on my comprehension.
Detachment is a human state where one’s response (through thought, feeling, word or deed) is independent of the outcome of any life event / circumstance / interaction. If one is detached, that does not mean that there are no thoughts and feelings. It simply implies that the response is evoked primarily by one’s internal locus of control.
Attachment on the other hand is a human state where one’s response (through thought, feeling, word or deed) is directly dependant and influenced by external life events / circumstances / interaction. It is a state where the impact of the external world on one’s response is direct and significant.

  1. My perception: Attachment is an ordinary life and Detachment is life beyond ordinary.

Self control is the only key to detachment.Tough to follow and implement for any ordinary human being but simple for extraordinary.
