One of the most vital elements to a happy life is to maintain a balance in life. It is important to strive for balance in life across the following life dimensions:
1) Physical / Body – This is directly influenced by:
a. Food – Eat right, Eat healthy and Balanced meals
b. Exercise – Any form of regular physical exercise will have a long term benefit on one’s body and health. Regular practice of yoga has a great positive effect on one’s overall well-being
2) Mind / Thoughts – This is directly influenced by:
a. What one observes? – Be cognizant of what you are observing
b. What one assimilates? – Filter what you absorb!
c. How we control our thoughts? – A great deal of mind control can be achieved through the regular practice of meditation. And if one is able to control the mind and one’s thoughts, one is able to harness the true untapped potential of the mind
3) Emotion / Feelings – This is directly influenced by:
a. Past Experiences – Magnify the positivity. Acknowledge and be grateful for all the good things in life. Try and let go of negativity in life.
b. Relationships – Invest in positive relationships. Those that make you happy and help you grow. Let go of any impeding relationships
c. One’s View of the Future – Think and visualize your dreams; They will become reality!!
4) Financial – This is directly influenced by:
a. Education – Ensure that you have the right qualifications which are aligned to your aspirations and the demands of your industry
b. Job / Work – Do what you love, & Love what you do! You will soon be on your way to make unimaginable wealth!
c. Financial Literacy – Invest time in understanding money
d. Financial Planning – Plan to make your money work for you
e. Financial Discipline – Invest regularly, Invest wisely and regularly review your financial portfolio to make required corrections
5) Spiritual – This is a very personal journey. For many individuals, this dimension simply does not exist and they continue to lead contented lives. If this dimension is a part of your life equation, you will find the direction and answers at the right time
I know of several individuals who give significant importance to few of these dimensions and completely ignore the others. For e.g.: Person X made it his life goal to become a millionaire – He did achieve this, but was at the cost of his relationships. Person Y was just too emotional about everything in life that she was limiting her own progress. Person Z so physically inactive and abused his body that he was unable to climb up the corporate ladder, etc. etc. etc.
Try and find the balance in life!!! Over a period of time, one will realize that balance across these dimensions leads to a happy and fulfilling life.
