Different Rules for Different People

I’ve always wondered why we have different rules for different people in our lives. The level of discrimination is almost unimaginable, but it’s true. We apply different rules for ourselves, different rules for our loved ones, different rules for people we know but probably don’t really care much about and different rules for strangers.

I wonder sometimes whether it is the same person who is displaying such a stark difference in behavior. And what really drives us to exhibit such behavior..

Is it our ego?
Is it our legacy?
Is it our selfishness?
Is it the impact of the society?
Is it our distorted view of the future?
Is it the influence of the material world?
Is it because it is the only practical way to live?
