The Memory Bank

Locked inside
The vault of your heart
Rests this bank
The Memory bank
Of your life

Of your baby days
There's hardly a memory

And of your childhood days
There's many a memory
The school life
Friends and freedom
The games and fun
School work, Home work, Projects galore
Mugging and cramming for those extra marks / grades
Report cards, PTA's, Annual Days and Sports days
Mummy's love, hugs and yummy food
Daddy's special gifts and affection
Wonder years indeed!
It was YOU all through

And then the Teenage Memories
Those raging hormones
Make you do many a crazy thing
And sometimes fall in love
That first date
That first brush of hands
That first time your heart skipped a beat
The first time you felt 'attraction'
The first kiss
And the first of many things to follow
College, and studies and everything in-between
Make those years zoom by the teens
Some you wonder if it was you
Some you're sure it was not you
And some you wonder when it can be you again

Followed by the onset of adulthood
A job, a passion, a dream, a goal
Work, Growth, Learning and More
Marriage, Commitments, Responsibilities
The House, The Car and The Mortgage
And some wonderful milestones go into the bank

And then come the children
And along with it starts a new memory bank
Of yours and your children
A clean slate
New credits
New debits
Of love, laughter and life
Of fun, mischief and everything in between
Of happiness, tears and the continuum
Of good, bad and ugly
Of joys, sorrows and pleasures
Of stars, rainbows, clouds and all that nature brings

For indeed, the cycle and circle of life continues
With the treasure of a memory bank :)

  10. This probably is the first poem that I am ever commenting on, and the reason is that it is so well crafted, so relatable that I just had to. Lovely take on the prompt.
